Each year CBI's Leaders of Tomorrow program honors one individual with the Up and Coming Banker of the Year award. Recipients of this award exemplify the best in the future of independent, community banking.

Selection of the Up and Coming Banker of the Year is based on a person's individual achievements in banking, their community involvement, and bank performance. Recipients are presented with the award during the CBI's Annual Convention in July.

To nominate an Up & Coming Banker, applications must meet the following criteria:

1. The nominated banker exemplifies the best in the future of community banking and is an integral part of their institution's leadership plan.
2. Nominated bankers must work at a bank that is a member of the Community Bankers of Iowa.
3. Applications may be submitted by any banker, but must be endorsed by a member of Senior Management.
4. Nominees should be a member of the Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT), but it is not a requirement.​ ​
